About Us

At Folde, we believe in the power of food to bring people together. The name “Folde”, from old English, means earth, land, or ground; a reflection of our roots in the community and our love for wholesome cuisine.

Owners Ella and Guy share a lifelong passion for hospitality. They met in a restaurant, and started dreaming of one day creating their own space where people could enjoy great food and feel at home. With years of experience in different kinds of restaurants, they understood what it takes to create a place that is both welcoming and memorable.

Before Folde came to life, they opened "Window", a café in the same St. John's Hill location, to meet the community and start building meaningful connections with locals. This gave them the opportunity to listen, learn, and perfection their approach before renovating and launching Folde, a vegetarian restaurant celebrating the endless possibilities of vegetables and plant-based cuisine.

Our Values

Community First

Folde is all about people. We love being part of our neighbourhood and creating a space where everyone feels welcome. It’s more than just a restaurant, it’s a place to relax, connect, and feel at home.

Passion for Hospitality

We genuinely love what we do, and we want you to feel that from the moment you walk in. Great food, friendly faces, and the kind of service that makes you want to stay a little longer, that's what we are all about.

Celebrating Vegetables

We are big believers that veggies can do it all. From comforting classics to fresh new ideas, we love showing just how exciting and full of flavour plant-based and vegetarian food can be.

Made In-House, With Care

Everything we serve is made right here in our kitchen. From our early café days to now, we have always believed that good food starts with simple, honest ingredients and a lot of care.

Sustainability & Respect for the Earth

Our name, Folde, means “earth”, and that says it all. We do our best to cook in a way that is kind to the planet, using seasonal produce and reducing waste wherever we can.

Our Suppliers

At Folde, we believe great food starts with great sourcing. That's why we work closely with independent producers and local suppliers who share our commitment to quality, seasonality, and sustainability. From nearby brewers to growers across the UK and Europe, each partner is chosen for their craft, care, and respect for the environment.

We source much of our fresh produce from Natoora and Rushton’s Greengrocer, both London-based suppliers championing seasonal ingredients and transparent supply chains that support small-scale farmers.

Our wine list includes bottles from Parched Wine, LC Selections, and Graft Wine, all independent importers focused on natural, low-intervention winemaking that celebrates authenticity and the story behind each vineyard over mass production.

Closer to home, our drinks come from Mondo, our neighbours and craft brewers just around the corner; Sipp'd, a small soft drink maker using only natural ingredients and local apples; and Momo Kombucha, whose organic kombucha is brewed in tiny batches right here in London.

Together, they help us bring honest, flavour-driven food and drink to the table, thoughtfully sourced and rooted in community.

What our customers say

"Absolutely fantastic restaurant with delicious vegan and vegetarian options. The cocktails were amazing quality - the best available on St John’s Hill. Wine selection was great and a delicious accompaniment for the foods available. Each small plate was full of exciting flavours- our favourite dishes were the romesco dip, crispy aubergine, potatoes and asparagus. Even the side of BBQ greens was delicious and would go well with any other dish. We definitely got over excited and ordered enough food for about 3 or 4 people but couldn’t resist eating everything. Every dish was a winner! We think the pricing was very fair too considering the quality of the food, flavours and presentation. The staff were very welcoming and friendly with lots of knowledge about each of the dishes. We will definitely be returning for the great atmosphere, fantastic cocktails and delicious food. Highly recommended a visit!"

"What a find! Some of the most interesting food I’ve ever had in London - the smoked olive croquettes.. INSANE. Highly recommend, not only for the food, but the service which was impeccable too."

"I was mindblown. We ordered the aubergine dip with masala fries and focaccia for starters. The dip was super creamy and delicious, focaccia was so fresh with amazing textures. For mains we ordered the Mushroom Skewers and the Feta dish. Im generally not a fan of Feta but oh man, this was perfect. All the flavours and textures went so well together! Had their in house strawberry ice tea which was refreshing. Staff was kind, polite and friendly. We went up to the chefs to personally thank them and tell them what a brilliant experience we had. Will definitely go back to try the rest of the menu."
